2008-2009 Preschool and
Pre-Kindergarten Program

Our Mission Statement:

We empower children to become emerging learners through stimulating instruction, creative educational curriculum and a positive learning environment.

Program Overview

Teaching World Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten is designed in two program formats:

The Preschool class is comprised of three and four year olds. This class explores letters, numbers, shapes, colors, calendar activities, weather, pre-reading and pre-math skills, art, music and science exploration. Classes are Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The Pre-Kindergarten class is comprised of four and five year olds who will begin Kindergarten in the Fall of the following year. This class focuses on beginning reading skills (encompassing phonemic awareness, rhyme, syllabication and writing), numerical concepts (enhancing number recognition, value, writing and manipulation), and a variety of other skill concepts to prepare for Kindergarten. Classes are Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. We also have a 3-day program running on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and a 4-day program from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Staffing

Each class consists of fourteen students, one certified teacher and one assistant. Our staff completes a background check and an infant/child CPR certification class each year.

Curriculum

Through an academic focus, we instruct our young students in the following skill areas:

• Language and Listening
• Science Exploration
• Social Interaction
• Cultural Diversity
• Music and Art
• Creative Play
• Citizenship
• Gross/Fine Motor Skills
• Sign Language
• Pre-Reading and Pre-Math Skills

Program Design

Our Preschool program is designed for interactive learning. Students
begin each class session in an instructional setting; this is where letters, numbers, music, literature and other focus skills are introduced. The children are then offered opportunities to explore and learn in individualized centers where they work independently as well as in teacher directed activities.

Resources include a sand and water table, complete play kitchen, listening center, computers, art easels, Thomas-the-Train play center, musical instruments, magnetic wall, educational games and puzzles, a variety of building materials, reading library, dramatic play and parachute play activities.

General Information

Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten for Fall 2008 begins Monday, September 8th, 2008.

There is a one time enrollment fee of $75.00, which is non-refundable.

Tuition is $115 for our two day program, $175 for our three day program, and $230 for our four day program. Tuition payments are due and payable on the 20th of each month. We assess a $20.00 late fee on any unpaid tuition. Payments can be made in our store.

Teaching World requires children enrolled in our program to be current with required immunizations as prescribed for their age. A copy of their current immunization records must be included in their enrollment file.

We celebrate the holidays throughout the school year. We do not celebrate Halloween, but choose to celebrate “Fall harvest”. We participate in two family field trips, once in the Fall and once in the Spring.

Children have a daily snack time. Each child will be assigned a snack day approximately every six weeks. Parents need to provide a snack for 16 people and an 8 oz. individual water for each person. No homemade snacks will be accepted.
